Connectivity in Control Systems Slide 22

Shown on this slide is an application using the TI AFE031. This is the TI external analog front end design to work with the C2000 devices over SPI, a complete modular PLC front end. Shown is an input from the core network, but because Ethernet is embedded in the Concerto device, this could be considered sort of an Ethernet concentrator. For PLC or multiple PLC points to Ethernet or multiple PLC points to CAN, multiple PLC points to USB, the device can act as a concentrator. This is with the C2000 running the PLC portion, and the ARM running as the host controller or network array transport. There are reference designs available for this on the website at TI.com/PLC. TI is also working to develop support for uLinux or micro Linux on the Cortex device, and supporting the software MAC and the software stack.
