Shown on this slide are the key benefits of the Cortex™-M3 core. This is a subset of the Stellaris family of devices and is C code compatible. There is no assembly code required to program the ARM in this device. It is optimized for single-cycle flash usage and is a deterministic, fast interrupt processor. Interrupt processing can be as low as six cycles, no more than twelve. There are multiple sleep modes making it possible to get lower power consumption with the device, different parts of the core can sleep independently. This core applies the industry standard Thumb2, a quasi 16-and 32-bit instruction set, with no mode switching.
