QuickSense C8051F990 Low Power MCU with Capacitive Sensing Slide 32
On the last slide it was shown how the wake on slider implementation is connected to the MCU and the high level attributes of the C8051F99x family that enable these functions. This slide illustrates the flow diagram of implementation of the wake on slider event. When the device first starts it is in the reset state. At this point the device is looking for an event on the first pads of the slider and the MCU is put into the ultra low power mode, consuming only 300nA.  When the initial touch is detected the device then starts scanning the next slider channels. The next set of pads are bonded together internally via the register setting which reduces the number of CS0 conversions.  This is implemented in order to reduce power while still being able to detect finger movement across the slider. The scan interval is also reduced, however, and still consumes 300nA during the sleep time which is a major impact to the overall average power consumed.  When the CS0 module is taking a measurement the MCU is placed in the low power suspend mode and is awakened by the completion of the scan. This process is repeated for the next set of slider pads until the MCU determines that a slide has been detected and moves the application to the next states.
