This slide shows how to build a part number using ST’s new part number nomenclature for the Trench Gate Field Stop IGBTs. As in the past, ST IGBT part numbers begin with the STG prefix, followed by an alphabetic character denoting package type. The following two numeric characters denote the maximum continuous current rating at 100°C, followed by an alphabetic character denoting the IGBT technology, which indicates operational speed range and its tradeoffs between conduction losses and switching energy losses. The next alphabetic character indicates special features if they are included. One or two alphabetic characters in the next spot indicate whether or not a Freewheeling diode is co-packaged with the IGBT die, and whether it is a very-fast recovery, ultra-fast recovery, or low forward voltage drop diode. The next character being an F denotes that the device is a Trench Gate Field Stop technology IGBT, and the subsequent numeric character indicates the generation. If there is no numeric character the device is generation one, generation two when indicated by a number 2, etc.
