The 600 volt ‘V’ series turn-off wave form exhibits a tail-less switching-off wave form like a MOSFET, making this an ideal device for very high power PFC circuits. These IGBTs can potentially displace MOSFETS as the switch of choice for boost PFC converters. They make more cost effective high current switches in these and other applications. The ‘H-B’ series turn-off tail is nearly non-existent, making it a desirable switch for high power, medium frequency applications. More about the desirability for a tail-less turn-off characteristic will be explained on the following slide.
