Now that it has been shown performance can be raised significantly with the use of SiC FETs, it must be shown how this can translate to benefits of the end system design. Multiple strategies can be followed. One, use the same switching frequency and increase the output power capability of the system. Two, decrease the amount of heat sinking required by the system, saving on total cost. Three, increase the switching frequency while maintaining the same power losses in the switch. The designer could also implement some level of each of these strategies as best fits the design goals.
