Another key product within the family of integrated motor controllers is the L99ASC03 for 3-phase brushless and sensor-less motor control applications. The L99ASC03 combines system basis functions like 5 V LDO regulation, LIN transceiver, window watchdog, low-power sleep mode, and wakeup inputs providing a highly integrated system solution for emerging self contained, distributed, and mechatronic applications. The output block of the L99ASC03 drives six N-channel MOSFETs in three separate half-bridges configurable by the SPI interface. The internal 2-stage charge pump provides the output drive needed for lower cost normal (non-logic level) MOSFETs and will fully drive normal MOSFETS to their lowest RDS(ON) value to system voltages as low as 6 V and 100% PWM duty cycle. So for example, many new applications within the hybrid and electric vehicle markets that require lower battery operation for “start-stop” will benefit from the full operational capability when system voltages can drop due to high system load requirements or cold temperature operation. To enable the sensorless control and eliminate many of the external components necessary for motor commutation the L99ASC03 also features unique IP for SPI programmable BEMF detection. BEMF detection is available in On and Off mode, as well as the full duty cycle range from 0-100% and requires only one GPIO from the MCU.
