This slide gives a look deeper into components that were identified in the roadmaps, starting with the M0-5 family of integrated H-bridges which includes the VNH5019A, VNH5050A, and VNH5180A. From the part number the customer can discern the RDS(on) of these drivers as 19 mΩ, 50 mΩ, and 180 mΩ respectively. Each of these integrated H-bridge drivers is a multichip module. On the high side, there is a VIPower M0-5 based dual intelligent switch with integrated control logic, diagnostics feedback, and protection. On the low side are two n-channel power MOSFETs. These are all 40-volt rated devices with full protection and diagnostics operation to 28 V. Diagnostics features include proportional current sense and open drain digital diagnostics. Protections include current and power limitation features, overvoltage clamp, cross-conduction protection, short-to-ground and short-to-VCC protection, and undervoltage/overvoltage shutdown. They are PWM switchable to 20 kHz. The VNH5050A and lower cost VNH5180A are pin compatible, so the same design can be configured for different load requirements. Typical applications for the VNH5019A might include seat positioning, window lift, sliding doors, or any application requiring ~7 A of continuous current. The VNH5050A is well suited for many general propose motor applications in the ~4-5 A continuous current range like reversible pumps. The VNH5180A is targeted for DC motors in the ~1-3 A range, such as door locks.
