Class D Audio Amplifiers Slide 7
Most of NXP’s amplifiers have two amplifiers in a single package for stereo applications. However, they can be used in mono mode, called Bridge Tied Load, or BTL mode. BTL is good for low voltage and high power applications. Two amplifiers are required in this mode, one for each “side” of the load. Both sides of the load are connected across the two amplifiers outputs. The BTL output sections can deliver twice the power compared to “Single-Ended” at a given supply voltage. Single-Ended load configuration has one amplifier per load, and provides less power output. The output is referenced to ground, with one side of the load connected to ground.
