The SA58672 is a filterless high efficiency Class D audio amplifier designed to meet the demands for a broad range of portable and wired applications. The low noise, PWM architecture eliminates output filters, reduces external component count and PCB system cost. Its flexible power supply requirement allows operation from 2V to 5.5V. The part is capable of driving 3W into a 4Ω load at 5V; with an 8Ω load, the power output is 1.7W. Using a 3.6V power supply, the typical output power is 800mW into an 8Ω load. The power efficiency of 88 ~ 90% into 8Ω and >85% into 4Ω results in less power dissipation and longer battery life operation. Key features include shutdown control; differential input; low supply current; a PSSR of -93 dB that eliminates the need for a voltage regulator; a unique modulation scheme that reduces EMI emissions; integrated pop and click suppression circuitry; fast start-up time of 7 ms; and thermal and short-circuit shutdown protection. The SA58672 is available in the chipscale 1.66mm x 1.71mm (SA58672UK) and the 10 terminal HVSON (SA58672TK) packages.
