Moving into specific IC-based solutions, National offers the SIMPLE SWITCHER® power module family. This slide highlights the LMZ10505. A shielded inductor is included in the package so the LMZ10505 only requires a few resistors and capacitors to complete the power solution. It has all the protection features an FPGA requires. At 4A output current and 85°celsius ambient temperature, power loss is only 1.2W, which means that the LMZ10505 can supply the full load with no de-rating in output.
