A globally emerging asset tracking application is cold-chain compliance. The FDA and other international agencies require all pharmaceutical goods, foods, and cosmetics to have their environment monitored during transportation. The US government also requires all logging dates to be stored electronically. The US cold-chain was established in the 1990s and has become the global standard. Recent requirements for data loggers include the ability to create a pdf file showing temperature and other environmental characteristics recorded by the data logger on-site, so that a file can be read out via USB immediately. The LAPIS microcontroller ML630Q466/Q464 have the capability to support all of these requirements with very few external components.
