The ideal location for the ceramic monopole antenna is in the corner or on the edge of the PCB.  The pattern in the top-left, marked XZ-PLANE, shows the image of the ceramic monopole across the top edge of the board. The E-Plane is in the same vertical plane as the length of the PCB, not broadside to the radiator. This is due to the coupling of the monopole to the ground plane. The ceramic monopole offers excellent omni-direction performance in the azimuth (XY) plane. Radiation efficiency is frequency dependent, but ranges between 50-70%.  The actual performance of the ceramic monopole is completely dependent on the mechanics. Displays, such as an LCD, or keypads can change the radiation characteristics of the antenna.
