There are three different development boards from ST. The main board is the daughter board for the Wi-Fi module itself which is the STEVAL-IDW001V1. There are two ways designers can use that daughter card. On the right it can be used with the STM32F0-Discovery board part number F308DISCOVERY. This allows the customer to create an STM32 application and run it as a self-contained application. For evaluation purposes, ST recommends the configuration on the left, which adds the STEVAL-PCC018V1, which is the USB-to-UART little dongle board. That can plug in directly into the PC USB connector. HyperTerminal can be used to send AT commands to the module and get data back that way. There is a software package online, the STSWIDW001 that includes the step-by-step guides for getting the 1V1 up together with the F0-DISCOVERY board. It has source code for the F0-DISCOVERY board and a complete output file system for the module.
