Following that same standard, the Wi-Fi modules that ST produces are literally a serial-to-Wi-Fi module, with an AT command set over UART to the module and then 2.4 GHz b/g/n out the other side. As was stated, ST Wi-Fi modules are built with ST core technology using the CW1100 b/g/n radio. That is ST’s internal Wi-Fi chipset that came from the ST/Ericsson partnership. That gives ST good capability data-wise for now and for the future. This current module family is based on the STM32F103 family. But remember that all of these are designed to be plug-and-play with an ease of use for the engineer to design in.
