On this slide a comparison is shown of the grid as it was before, very much concentrated in the generation of power, and today where it is effectively distributed in generation and utilization, thanks also to renewable energy sources. It is a combination of the customer creating and using energy, and the utilities generate distribution plans that reduce the size of the plants and the distribution cables, and distribute it more intelligently. It is very important that this intelligence is applied throughout all generation, distribution, and utilization. As an example, it has been determined by a U.S. sponsored government research project that improving the U.S. grid efficiency by five percent would be equivalent to cutting the fuel use and carbon emissions of fifty three million cars. This shows the importance of having this grid being smart.
