SLC NAND Flash memory supports a wider operational temperature range and has better data retention owing to the architecture of memory cells and reduced bit/cell complexity. SLC NAND is rated at an operational temperature of -40°C to 85°C, MLC NAND is rated at an operational temperature of 0°C to 70°C, and aMLC NAND is rated as MLC NAND from 0°C to 70°C. Unlike the SLC NAND Flash, wide temperature options do exist for the MLC NAND, however the data retention characteristics and behaviors remain unaltered.
