Over current protection is a great feature to prevent system damage. Toshiba load switch ICs are pre-programmed with a specific current trigger level. The load switch constantly samples current, and when the trigger is exceeded, the load switch is briefly turned off. The switch then automatically resets without needing any additional control inputs. This feature is very useful on charging circuitry, especially on USB ports where the host’s charging current is not unknown or untrustworthy.
