Another important factor in a wireless design is the data rate, or how much data the signal can send. The Bluetooth® SIG releases new versions of Bluetooth as the technology progresses. For example, version 2.1 brought new improvements over version 1, included new features like EDR or Enhanced Data Rate. This allows for faster data transfer up to 2.1 Mbps, as well as power savings and lower noise due to improved modulation techniques.
