This slide shows an ANT/BLE application example. This application is a heart rate monitor and the user needs to send the acquired data to a cell phone for collection. The heart rate monitor sensor can utilize single mode devices like TI’s CC2570 for ANT, or CC2540 for BLE functionality. Cell phones today mainly support classic Bluetooth® only, via devices like the TI WL1271. Since the heart rate monitor only communicates via ANT or BLE, and the cell phone only speaks Bluetooth, an aggregator can be used as a translator that speaks both ANT or BLE, as well as Bluetooth. For example, the TI CC2567 provides both Bluetooth and ANT capability, while CC2564 will provide Bluetooth and BLE functionality. In the future the aggregator can be removed from the equation as cell phones start to adopt ANT or BLE.
