The Wi-Fi certifications and regulations that aid devices in working together have already been discussed. However, there are other factors that can affect interoperability, performance, or supported features. Often, when new standards are released to the market, there is a time lag for their successful adoption. This can be mitigated through both Wi-Fi Alliance Certification and IOT or Interoperability testing. For example, TI invests a great deal into building internal IOT test capabilities prior to the release of WLAN software or ICs.
