The RX65x family with high density memory supports both linear and dual flash memory mode. Dual mode allows for on-the-fly firmware updates using the background operation function (BGO). In this example, existing firmware is executed in Bank 1 while new firmware is loaded into Bank 2. The Bank 2 area can be selected via an address swapping function, and upon reset, the new firmware will start executing.
