The ZigBee® network is designed to provide reliable two way wireless communications over a multi-hop mesh network on an IEEE 802.15.4 MAC/PHY. Networking features provide for network, device and service discovery, and also provide services for broadcast, unicast, and groupcast. A key feature of the network is the low power framework. The network also offers AES 128-bit encryption, decryption and authentication. Device interoperability is defined through application profiles, i.e. the Smart Energy Profile. There is, however, no common C language API defined in the specification or among stack vendors.
