One of the most common topologies used for isolated DC-DC conversion is the flyback converter. The flyback converter is a buck-boost converter with the inductor split to form a transformer so the voltage ratios are multiplied with an additional advantage of isolation. To understand the advantages of eGaN FETs compared with their silicon counterparts in a flyback converter, EPC used an IEEE 802.3 compliant power over Ethernet (PoE) Converter.
