ANT-Slide28

ANT offers a burst transfer mode which is ideal for efficiently transferring bulk data at significantly faster rates. Burst messaging is based upon multiple packet, fully acknowledged, message strings. In the string of packet delivery each packet is held in the buffer until the previous packet has been acknowledged. Packet order is also added to the messaging making it easier to reassemble jumbled or restarted packet strings. Burst channels are automated via the protocol. Burst packet size is configurable and ANT will inform the host at the end of the predetermined length of packets. For the only instance in the ANT protocol, failure to receive an ACK from the burst slave will result in an automatic packet resend. This resend will happen up to five times if necessary. The ANT host MCU will be notified on the fifth failure and is expected to take action. The burst train will go into the next period if required. Strong adherence to MCU flow control is required. The asynchronous baud rate is a minimum of 19,200 kbps. The ANT burst transfer mode is optimized and more efficient than synchronous communication data rates.
