The event system is a unique feature that is in a lot of Microchip Smart Microcontrollers. It mainly allows peripherals to interact with each other without CPU intervention. The events generated by source peripherals are designed to be directly routed to destination peripherals. Additionally, the trigger source can be software programmed.  For instance, for safety functions that are typically needed in motor control or PFC applications, PWM event destination can be trigged and put in safe state on clock failure, analog comparator, timer counter and selected PIOs. Or for measurement trigger functions that are typically needed in motor control or PFC applications, PWM can be triggered on PWM or analog comparators. Analog comparators and IO can trigger PWM or ADC, as well as timer counter or RTC can trigger the ADC.
