Due to the fact that the right leg drive amplifier is very critical, it is recommended to conduct a very detailed analysis and apply some sort of simulator, such as Spice. Simulating the electrode body contacts is represented in the diagram on this slide with capacitance and impedance in parallel. Because the circuit is an overall loop-on-loop, often customers will integrate a particular device as the right leg drive amplifier and they will claim that this low noise part is in fact very noisy. What the user often does not realize is that it is periodically very noisy, which indicates that the overall loop is oscillating. Maintaining stability in a right leg drive amplifier is a challenge, especially when using single supply devices.
