Jitter performance varies across a wide range of conditions including device configuration, operating frequency, signal format, input clock slew rate and jitter, power supply, and power supply noise. Before starting to build a clock tree, these are some important pieces of information that one will need to find out about the system. A recommended first step to building a clock tree is to select devices with jitter specifications required by the system. Look at the typical and max jitter specs; typical alone is not complete.
