Taking a deeper look at the Debian Linux distribution, it is built on the OpenSTLinux distribution and is easy to cross compile on an Ubuntu host. Support for segmented compilation means that designers do not have to build the entire image when an update to the Linux distribution is needed. Additionally, the pre-built packages for Debian means the designers will not need to compile anything at all in order to get the prototype up and running. The Debian Linux distribution is compatible with existing software development environments from ST. All of the Octavo Systems offerings are open source, from the source code to the build environments, making it easy to customize and modify.
