While hardware is great for prototyping and as a reference design it is not the only thing designers need to get started. Octavo devices are fully compatible with all software tools, both provided by ST as well as third parties, built around the MP1. This includes the OpenSTLinux distribution and STM32Cube development environment provided by ST as well as open source projects like Yocto, which can be used to build custom Linux distributions. So, it is easy to get all of the advantages of System-in-Package without learning any new software tools. In addition to support of existing software tools and environments, Octavo Systems offers a Debian Linux distribution and SDK. Debian Linux, with its many easily installed packages, has been used on many platforms to help get prototypes up and running quickly without having to learn Yocto or other Linux build environments.
