For discrete designs requiring higher power in excess of 50 W, MACOM has introduced three new shunt PIN diodes. These diodes are in the same 1.5 mm X 1.2 mm DFN plastic package as previously discussed. They are very broadband, as shown by the plots, and operate upwards of 20 GHz. These can be used in the “coarse” sections of the limiter designs, with the MADL-011021, MADL-011023, or MADS-011010 in the “clean up” stages. These shunt PINs can also be used as SPST switches and provide very broadband, low insertion, and high isolation. The MADP-011029 offers the highest power handling of 100 W CW primarily due to its high reverse breakdown voltage and is a result of the ceramic passivation used in the processing of the semiconductor.
