For engineers requiring discrete limiter designs, MACOM offers a variety of limiter dies as well as packaged PIN limiters in both ceramic and plastic package offerings. The plastic limiters shown on this slide are a PIN diode limiter, MADL-011023, and a ZBD Schottky limiter, MADS-011010. Both are packaged in a small 1.5 mm x 1.2 mm Dual Flat No Lead or DFN package. These are designed in a low inductance shunt configuration which allows for broadband performance from VHF band up through X-band. They can be configured in a multi-stage configuration and are typically in the “clean-up” stage of a limiter design. The PIN limiter MADL-011023 has a maximum CW power of 3 W and +20 dBm flat leakage. The MADS-011010 ZBD Schottky can be used as a limiter and also to provide a DC return in place of a bias inductor. The MADS-011010 maximum CW power is 1 W with +20 dBm flat leakage.
