When we consider a comparison of WEP and WPA, we can see the improvements inherent in WPA. Encryption was much stronger, using 128 bit keys based on the DES algorithm, and the keys are distributed automatically. Authentication of user devices is greatly enhanced, providing a much greater level of protection for devices on the network. WPA represented a large step forward in wireless security.
