Each new standard provides progressively faster throughput and Data rates. 802.11b is currently the most common standard deployed, and 802.11g is growing rapidly. 802.11a is a standard used when there are other devices in an environment that may interfere with networking at the 2.4 GHz level – wireless phones or microwaves, for example. 802.11a provides more reliable networking in general, and may be deployed in noisy environments. Digi will provide 802.11a support in the future.
