802.11 a and g provide a longer range than 802.11b, another factor driving their growth in wireless network deployments. 802.11 g is backwards-compatible with 802.11b, so it is easy to support both standards with a single device. All the security methods discussed are independent of the type of wireless network deployed, either 802.11 a, b or g.
