The PSoC terms used in this presentation are shown on this slide. PSoC Creator is an integrated design environment for PSoC 4, PSoC 3 and PSoC 5LP. It is a software that installs in a PC and allows the user to do concurrent hardware and firmware design of PSoC systems, or do the hardware design followed by export to popular IDEs, where they can continue the firmware development. Components are free embedded ICs represented by an icon in PSoC Creator. They are used to integrate multiple ICs and systems that interface into a single PSoC. These components can be dragged and dropped as icons to design systems in PSoC Creator and they are inherently connected to the MCU via the main system bus. The BLE component, as shown in the image to the right, can create Bluetooth Smart products in minutes. The programmable analog components, like opamps and comparators, are used to create AFEs for sensor inputs. Component configuration tools are simple graphical user interfaces in PSoC Creator - each component has one - and are used to customize component parameters. They can be accessed by right clicking a component and opening its configuration tool. The image on the lower right shows the BLE component and its configuration tool in PSoC Creator. PSoC 4 BLE is the product being discussed. It is a PSoC 4 IC with an integrated BLE radio, which includes a royalty free BLE Protocol Stack compatible with Bluetooth 4.1.
