Microchip's sensors software incorporates all the necessary drivers for all supported sensors. This enables a standardized programming interface for development on all the Microchip Xplained hardware boards. Furthermore, the calibration routines of the sensors are included and ready to be used by the customer application. The data returned from the sensors software is not just a number, but a number with a unit like for example mg (milli-g) for acceleration or °/S for rotation. This makes it easier to develop software as the developer does not need to figure out the scaling factor of the output from the different sensors. In short, the sensor drivers provide an interface for all the sensors with configuration and setup, and output normalized into engineering units.
