Xplained-Slide10
The Microchip Sensors Xplained Software framework is necessary to implement a sensor application. As can be seen in the drawing on this slide, the software stack consists of three layers. The first layer is the hardware layer addressing the digital capabilities of the sensor chips. The second layer is the peripheral drivers. These are I²C drivers developed by Microchip for basic communication with the sensors and the extraction of data. This Microchip driver library creates an abstraction layer that not only takes the data from the sensor, but starts to do conversion and data fusions to make the data more accessible. The third layer is the software library. This library is continuously growing as Microchip is working with its partners to import new functions. Because of the existing layers provided by Microchip, the developer only has to focus on developing the application. The basic drivers and support software are there and the design allows for carefree switching between different MCUs and sensors. All of the above mentioned software is available for free from Microchip.com.
