Provisioning is when a user attempts to connect the device to the internet without having a keyboard and screen. If they have speakers and want to connect them to the internet at the house system, how do they do that without having a keyboard? They use your smartphone. WiLink 8 supports multiple methods of Wi-Fi provisioning. The most important is the access point/point-to-point mode. WiLink 8 will come up as an access point, the user can connect to WiLink 8 and pass the credentials of a specific AP and then WiLink 8 can use those credentials to connect to a specific AP in station mode. TI also supports Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) method, the TI proprietary SmartConfig™ method, and Apple Wireless Accessory Configuration (WAC), which requires the MFi license with Apple.
