Shown here is the road map for the Hercules family. It is divided into three main sections: the value line, high-performance transportation and industrial and medical. The value line, which includes the TMS470M devices, are Cortex-M3 based microcontrollers. These devices have Flash ranges between 320K up to 640K and are all compatible 100 pin QFPs. The transportation section includes TMS570 microcontrollers which are based on the Cortex-R4F CPUs running in lock-step. There are 1 and 2 MB Flash footprints available with 160K of RAM and run up to 160 MHz. These MCUs have been designed for automotive specifically, but they also fit well into other transportation applications like railway, aerospace and off road vehicles. Finally, the industrial and medical section includes the RM48 line. They include the same safety concept as the TMS570 utilizing the lock-step Cortex-R4 floating point CPU. These devices go up to 3 MB of Flash memory and up to 256K of RAM. Other important additions to the RM48 family are USB host and device and Ethernet.
