IDEs that Texas Instruments promote include IAR, KEIL and, obviously, Code Composer Studio for the Hercules family. The three main operating systems for this family are SAFERTOS from High Integrity Systems, microC/OS from Micrium and the ThreadX OS from expresslogic. These providers have safety-critical versions of their operating systems which makes them optimal from Hercules. Software is available to demonstrate the safety features inside the device. The ambient light and temperature sensors as well as the LEDs have demos that are available. TI offers GUI tools to help configure the PLLs, the High End Timer Integrated Development Environment and the HALCoGen. The HALCoGen is similar to the Grace tool for MSP430. It generates start up code and peripheral drivers so designers do not have to waste time perusing the data book prior to using the MCUs. HALCoGen supports Code Composer Studio, IAR and KEIL IDEs. Finally, there is a standalone tool available in both GUI and command line format for doing standalone Flash programming of the MCUs.
