In summary, the Hercules product line consists of three families: RM48x, TMS570LS31x and TMS470M. These ARM Cortex based MCUs are specifically designed for safety critical, medical, industrial and transportation applications. The RM48 and 570s include several built-in safety features: dual Cortex-R4f CPUs running in lockstep, built-in self-tests for the CPU and RAM, ECC for all RAM and Flash and the error signaling module. The RM48 MCUs have connectivity peripherals like CAN, Ethernet and USB. The TMS570 MCUs lean towards automotive and transportation applications which have LIN, CAN and FlexRay comminication protocols.
