eZ430 Development Tool Overview Slide 7

SimpliciTI™ is the most common protocol that designers will use when developing an application using Chronos. It is a open-source protocol that was developed by Texas Instruments designed for ultra-low power RF protocols. Even in a complex network topology this RF stack will consume only a few resources, meaning it will consume less than 8K of Flash and as little as 1K of RAM. As a comparison, if the user was running a Zigbee® protocol on a device like the Chronos, it would typically consume about 100 – 110 kB of Flash. SimpliciTI™ has a star network topology, meaning there is a central axis point that communicates to several end devices. Additionally, end-to-end device or end-device-to-end-device communication or peer-to-peer communication is also possible. For inexperienced RF users this is the perfect protocol because it is a simple set-up with a small set of API calls. These devices support sleeping devices which will extend the battery life of the application.
