This slide illustrates the quick cross-reference using the parameters previously mentioned, such as breakdown voltage, Rds(on), total gate charge, and the package. For instance, a competitor’s device which is easy to cross-reference because the Rds(on) is shown in the part number. In this case, the IPP60R1906 is 600V, the Rds(on) is under 190mΩ, the gate charge is 63nC, and the package is a TO-220. The cross-reference in this case should be ST’s STP24N60M2, which is a 600V, 190mΩ, 29nC device, in TO-220 package. The second example crosses the BSC011N03LS, a 30V, 1.1mΩ max. with a 72nC total gate charge. The package is the TDSON-8, which is the equivalent of the PowerFLAT. In this case, the STMicroelectronics cross will be the STL220N3LLH7, which is a 1.1mΩ max. device. As can be seen it is an easy exercise. ST also offers some tools that can help when doing the cross-reference in real-time, these are discussed later in this tutorial.
