RF Reed Relays Presentation Part 1 Slide 13

Insertion loss is considered one of the most important RF parameters. It basically defines the signal loss when going through a component or circuit (a reed relay, for example). It is measured by first passing a signal with known strength down a given copper strip and measuring its signal strength at the beginning and end of the strip; the component is then added to the copper strip and the signal strength at the end is measured and compared.
