This table compares the Surge Stoppers, each marked with its distinguishing feature. The LT4363 linear Surge Stopper provides a precise 2% overvoltage clamp voltage while the LTC4364 adds ideal diode control for reverse protection and supply holdup. LTC4380 consumes just 8µA during normal operation with the MOSFET completely on, making it ideal for always-on, battery-powered systems. The LTC4366 floating Surge Stopper enables very high voltage operation up to hundreds of volts, limited only by MOSFET rating. The LTC7860 switching Surge Stopper provides better efficiency for high power surges with 5A and higher load currents but requires an inductor. All of the Surge Stoppers are available in surface-mount plastic packages and high temperature automotive grades with most of them also available in military-plastic grade.
