Other products in the Surge Stopper family include the LTC4364 which adds ideal diode control to the LT4363 functionality. The LTC4364 controls an additional N-channel MOSFET to act as a low-drop diode, blocking reverse currents and replacing Schottky diodes. It enables applications where two or more supplies are ORed for redundancy or backup purposes. In a single supply application, the ideal diode holds up the output voltage on load capacitors when the input supply voltage browns out temporarily as occurs during automotive cold crank. The LTC4364 blocks the input voltage from propagating to the output even when the input goes below ground to −40V which happens when a battery is mistakenly inserted with reversed polarity. Similarly, the output can go below ground to −20V without affecting the input.
