This slide depicts exactly why electronic devices should be kept cool. This is a chart showing the reliability of silicon die, with respect to die temperature and operating voltage. As the die temperature decreases, the silicon can operate at higher voltage while maintaining good reliability or time to failure. Conversely, as the die temperature increases, the lifetime to failure decreases significantly.
