Thermally conductive adhesives are used to provide structural support, in addition to heat transfer. There are a wide range of chemistries available and different cure options depending on the application requirements. These can be used in manual application or automated dispense and pick-and-place operations. These thermoset polymers are designed for permanent bonding once cured. One example of a paste adhesive is Loctite 384, which is an activator-cure acrylic adhesive used to quickly bond heat sinks. These materials are available in syringe, cartridge, or bulk packaging.
