bandwidth illustration
An example of where USB 3.0 bandwidth is key to the end product is with video streaming. The diagram on this slide shows the data rate required to achieve 38 frames per second high resolution video as being 2.08 Gbps; clearly much higher than that which is achievable with USB 2.0. This opens up USB for applications involving high resolution cameras for medical or production inspection as well as driving displays. Other applications that benefit from the faster USB speeds include printer/scanner devices where large volumes of data are transferred quickly and with data acquisition applications that again want to pass high volumes of data quickly.
